antique country pine double wardrobe armoire 1820

Item Ref

A very substantial and bigger than standard early pine wardrobe, originating from the northern continent, Denmark or Germany.
Dating from the equivalent of the late Georgian era, 1800 to 1820, this wardrobe was made for a well-to-do household:
- deeply fielded panelled doors and sides
- hand forged external iron hinges and catches
- original hand cut brass escutcheons
- replacement lock with key
- chamfered corners and deep cornice
- very nice period colour
- original pad feet still intact.
- no damage or repairs
Certainly one of the best wardrobes we've had in recent years!
The size is impressive, the internal depth 21"(533mm),which is deep enough for the broadest shoulders.
The style is perfectly country yet timeless, the condition is outstanding with the mellow look of a period piece.
The armoire dismantles for transport and access and is ready to use. A new brass rail has been fitted inside.
(The wardrobe has an 'old' replacement lock and key, but the original lock was with the wardrobe when bought. If it can be repaired, it will be refitted.)
A one-of-a-kind wardrobe in style and condition.
