antique painted pine farmhouse settle bench 1880

Item Ref

A particularly short and decorative antique pine farmhouse settle, dating from the mid to late 19th century in very good condition.
Typical deeply swept arm rests with unusual urn shaped panel sides, beautifully swept arm rests and legs, a double panelled back further decorated with a sweet heart back rest..
Found in this style from Scandinavia to Hungary, often used in farmhouse kitchens to seat the farm workers or sleep the children.
This bench is in sound structural condition. Minimal signs of old worm holes, treated and obsolete.
The paint on this settle is a combination of old and new, a muted warm mid grey recent top coat, the old deep red beneath, a country style colour in a flat matt finish.
Due to it's short size and timeless style, a very desirable piece of country furniture.
