A rather interesting small size Louis Philippe bookcase with secretaire on chest .
Originating from Northern Europe, very likely Danish and made in customary local way, featuring all Louis Philippe attributes.
+ arched and turreted cornice
+ carved corbels
+ undulating panels on the original glazed doors
+ full set of brass escutcheons
+ locks working on doors and secretaire
+ most locks working on chest
+ undulating panel on fitted secretaire flap
+ five office drawers with original tiny brass knobs,
+ a later added letter slide with leather inset
+ sepentine chest top
+ four roomy drawers,
+ carved corbels and moulding on base
+ all corbels and feet original
The interior is very usable, some small missing parts of veneer on the inside of the flap, on the very back, probably due to movement over time.
The whole bookcase is waxed and polished, it is showing signs of use and some woodworm holes, treated and obsolete.
An entirely unusual and rare piece of country pine, found in time related condition.
