A graceful and decorative antique pine settle, dating from the mid to late 19th century in good condition.
Typical deeply swept arm rests with turned spindle panel sides, straight solid legs, a double panelled open spindle back further decorated with a straight reeded back rest..
Found in this style from Scandinavia to Hungary, often used in farmhouse kitchens to seat the farm workers or sleep the children.
This bench is in sound structural condition, although some historic repairs have been made, pegged and solid, see photos 11 to 13.
The settle stands well with a good strong seat. A couple of candle burns showing in photos 8 and 9, blending well with the overall rich colour of this settle.
A sought after shorter size.
Minimal scattered historic wood worm holes, vigorously treated and obsolete.
The bench has been found in it's original deep umber / sienna brown original satin finish, well used and worn,
