A very substantial and outstanding oak armoire in the Scandinavian style of early Biedermeier / Empire, built around 1780 to 1800.
This wardrobe was made for a well-to-do household , country style, maybe for a landowners house.
- deeply fielded panelled doors and single panel sides
- rounded corners on body, brackets and cornice
- deep intricate and elaborately moulded cornice
- fantastic dove tailed and complicated construction
- original well designed plinth and bracket feet
- hand forged externall iron drop on hinges and fantastic internal door catches
- elaborate brass escutcheons
- box lock and key in working order
- wooden clothes rail
- original multi panel boards and sliding clamp fittings
- painted in Regency Blue, Crown Historic Range, matt chalky finish

Certainly one of the most splendid armoires we've had in recent years.
The construction and execution is of a good rural standard, it slots together very easily, despite it's size and weight.
The decorative detail is intricate, pleasing and minimalistic.
The depth of the piece is very good for hanging, 535mm, even for the broadest shoulders!
The style is perfect Scandi country, yet timeless, the condition is very good overall, with the mellow feel of a period piece.
The armoire dismantles for transport and access and is ready to use.
A fine usable armoire in style and condition, good for hall, landing, bedroom or lounge...
