ANTIQUE SET OF GERMAN SKIS WITH POLES
Found in undamaged original condition and paint, a medium size set of cross country skis.
Originating from northern Germany, Markneukirchen, which is famous for Ski and violin making.
Triflex is a well known brand and the trade mark is particularly fun, a little snowman on a sledge carrying what seems to be a set of scissors? or Skis? who knows...
The set comes with all necessary fixings, so could possibly be used.
A pair of rather used cane and leather poles come with.

ANTIQUE HAND LOOMED EUROPEAN HEMP SACK
A selection of east European, in this case Hungarian hand loomed hemp grain sacks.
Found unused and washed, ready for any textile project.
One sack makes 2 generous cushions, one good bolster or settle cushion.
The material is robust, but soft, so can also be used for floor cushions, stair runners etc.
As there are a multitute of patterns, often stripes, sometimes with initials, please just state your colour preference.
The sacks vary in colour and weave patterns, but are always the same size, obviously for grain weighing purposes.
All have slubby rough weave texture, as country as you can get...
Shown in the bookcase in the most popular colour ways, blue stripe, red stripe,red / blue stripe, beige/ brown/ maroon stripe and plain cream.

ANTIQUE WOODEN HOOK BOARD / COAT HOOK
SHAKER TYPE PEGS ON BOARD,1880
A genuine antique wooden pine board with five hand turned round pegs.
These peg boards are found inside of antique wardrobes where they were used to hang frocks and cloaks before the invention of coat hangers in the 20th century.
This one was removed from a 1880ies pine wardrobe to make room for a modern rail.
In original condition, unpainted pine, waxed to preserve and ready to use.
Great as intended for coats and hats, also good for towels, herbs, dried flowers etc.
Equally suited for an antique or contemporary setting.

ANTIQUE COUNTRY WALL SHELF / COAT RACK
A totally unique original painted pine wall rack, originating from continental Europe, possibly Hungary or Greece.
This type of rustic painted country furniture is found from Scandinavia to Greece and will never fail to please the eye.
The shelf is solid, has no damage, 5 hand carved wooden hooks and decorative mouldings add to the very decorative charm.
Useful as coat or hat rack, useful in the kitchen for herb drying, towels and plates ( there is a groove in the top to accommodate plate storage, see photo 4) or in the bathroom for towels etc.
The paint is worn and features various shades of country green.
Waxed and cleaned ready for use.

ANTIQUE CANDLE STICK PHONE IN WORKING ORDER 1920
Authentic antique 1920ies 'Downton Abbey' style candle stick phone or desk stand.
Rewired with cloth covered twist and braid cable, bell box and BT connection, ie usable with any BT line.
Standard clean black Bakelite and brass construction, the ear piece is wood, possibly walnut or fruit wood, for comfort?
The round dial is chrome, with original lettering and numbering intact. All working parts have been checked and are original as far as we can tell.
No damage, some signs of usage as to be expected, but minimal.

A large chunky pine harness rack, found in Yorkshire, approximate age 120 years .
A nice piece of original equestrian country equipment.
Made from 2 1/2" thick timber with hand carved 10" long pegs.
Tactile and useful as a display item or coat rack, quilt rack etc.

FRENCH PAINTED COUNTRY SIDE/LAMP TABLE /CHOPPING BLOCK

A solid oak French side table / lamp table with copper rimmed lid.
This French piece was originally used as a wood chopping block for the famous French wood burning stoves.
A steel band circles the block midriff.
Standing solidly on three bobbin turned oak legs , no damage to the block body and a clean polished oak top.
It has retained it's original cream paint finish, which has been cleaned and wax polished.
Ready for use as lamp table with or without the lid , chopping block in the kitchen or as intended to cut a little wood for the stove.
Age : between 80 to 100 years

ANTIQUE DESK TOP FILING CABINET
A quirky little desk top filing cabinet, made in pine still bearing the original painted finish.
The manufacturer is named on the original paper label as "Stones" , with a description of other cabinets available.See photo 6.
Four A4 sized drawers, paper lined, with brass handles and drop-in label holder furnish the interior.
The cabinet is well made, panelled all round and has a sturdy door with brass lock and key.
The overall condition is good with age related signs of wear.

BUFFALO HIDE MILL BUCKET
Original buffalo hide bucket, industrial mill heritage from Yorkshire.
Used in the mills for centuries , the buffalo skin was valued for durability and strength. With years of usage, the leather has taken on a deep brown hue , due to lanolin seeping from the wool.
The hide was imported from Italy, where water buffalo were commonly used in agriculture.
The bucket is in good condition, with only two stitches missing from the seam. The letters L and R are painted on the side .
Very functional as storage container, waste basket or planter.

ANTIQUE SWEDISH PINE TALL BARREL
A rare pine and split ash banded tub, dating back to about 1850.
Made by a craftsman using century old methods of barrel making to achieve the shape and water tightness needed.
An extra fine Norwegian /Swedish style wooden band finished in a typical overlapping knot is found on top of the barrel and also in the middle.
It looks like the bottom one was replaced with a later iron barrel strap.
The former use of this piece was agricultural, maybe food storage or butter making etc.
In very good rustic condition, useful as a decorative storage container for golf clubs, fishing rods or umbrellas etc.

A perfectly formed small book stand or lectern rescued from an no longer used chapel in Wales.
Made from pitch pine , well constructed and solid.
Typical late Victorian style, with chamfered edges, book storage shelf and stretchered pegged base.

Also very usable as a display stand for interesting books etc.

ANTIQUE SET OF WOODEN SWISS SKIS
A fun set of original Swiss skis, trade marked Jika Sports Neuchatel.
A combination cross country and downhill , as commonly used around the 1920ies to 1950ies.
This pair also has a signature of sort on the foot bed, 'Lillywhites' which might refer to a sports personality of the day, I haven't found any references though.
Thanks to two comments via Selling Antiques, we now know that :
the skis were probably made in Switzerland for sale in London at Lillywhites, Regent St, Piccadilly Circus a Victorian sports emporium that opened in 1925 probably by Fred Lillywhite. It's still there but owned by one of the sports chains now

The skis are in good order, all the mechanics seem to be present, but sorry no poles.

ANTIQUE FRENCH FOLDING IRON BOTTLE RACK
A nice iron bottle rack, to help keep wine bottles safe and horizontal, which is a priority in France.
Made from solid iron bar in the familiar style, holding 90 bottles, but also folding if not needed, fat chance!
The rack has been cleaned, but has no protective finish, so might show a little rust in time, if kept in a cool place.
There are strong fixings on the back to anchor into the wall.
And if you haven't got 90 bottles, then it'll work as a shoe rack too.

VICTORIAN WIRE FIRE GUARD
A nice find for lovers of iron work, a well used late 19th century wire fireguard.
In used but good condition, all iron intact, no breakage. Some of the little bars are a little disturbed, a little wobbly, not perfect as on the day they were made.
A handle and two movable hooks to attach the guard to the front of the fire grate are all in working order.
A great wire item for a cottage or garden room.

ANTIQUE PURE LINEN CUSHIONS
A collection of antique linen cushions, each chosen for super quality country feel and texture.
Made from various types and patterned linens.
All these hand loomed linens are from the early to late 19th century and have signs of age as expected. There are however no signs of damage , just uneven texture or weave, it is hand made cloth.
The cushion covers are made by an experienced professional seamstress and orders can be taken.
All of these cushions have zipped fasteners, so can be removed for washing.
The inserts are down feather filled to give super softness.

ANTIQUE LARGE ROUND BASKET
Made by a country basket maker 100 years ago,these two round willow baskets are as good today as they were then.
Used for drying prunes, mushrooms, herbs etc, but generally usable as a storage basket for all sorts.
The baskets are nearly the same size, both have carrying handles, are made in the same style ,although of slightly different willow.
Signs of wear are present, but no damage as such.
These baskets are available most times and can be up to 1,50m in diameter.
