ANTIQUE PINE SECRETAIRE STYLE STORAGE CUPBOARD 1850
A most unusual and decorative pine storage cupboard or small size armoire, made to resemble a Continental Regency secretaire, commonly known as a 'Blender',
( translated ' blinder or dazzler' ) ie to represent something it is not!
This cupboard is very well constructed, built from first grade Scandinavian pine, dating from the early to mid 19th century. Usually a piece of furniture supplied to the bourgeois households, ie not rural pine..
Although the front looks very much like a secretaire, it is in fact a single door cupboard, fitted inside with a ladder system, allowing various options for shelving.
It also has a facility for a rail if needed.
The decorative detail is quite unique, I presume Louis Phillipe style, with poetic licence, half turned pillars, turrets , two applied carved mouldings and a central torchere plaque. Original lock, key and escutcheons.
Very clean to use.
It was found in original grained mahogany finish, but has been given a new, more contemporary touch, 'Pavillion Grey', Farrow and Ball.

Dimensions:
1010mm wide
1800mm high
580mm deep

ANTIQUE PINE FARMHOUSE BOX SETTLE STORAGE BENCH 1860
A lovely, more sophisticated than most, very decorative and well constructed farmhouse box settle / bench with storage.
Often found as part of a dowry to store linen and at times to accommodate visitors and children.
Traditionally styled, as found from Scandinavia to Southern Europe, with beautifully swept arms and legs, solid diamond fielded panels in the extremely pretty back rest and in the side panels.
Found in the original first paint, a rich dark scumble, now over-painted in a Gustavian style medium blue- grey and left in a chalky matt finish.
This settle is a desirable example, it is also shorter than most, which is hard to find.
The lidded seat offers a large stow space, cleaned and solid for all sorts of storage items.
No damage, no repairs, a little wear on the sides of the lid, other than that clean and usable.

ANTIQUE PERIOD PINE DOUBLE WARDROBE IN ORIGINAL PAINT 1850
A very substantial early pine double country wardrobe, originating from the northern parts of the Continent, Scandinavia or Germany.
Dating from the equivalent of the late Georgian era, 1800 to 1840, this wardrobe was made to a very good standard:
- dove tailed construction
- hand forged internal strap hinges and catches
- original hand cut brass escutcheons
- original lock and key
- double panelled sides and doors, deeply fielded
- rounded corners and original intricate dental / bobbin style cornice
- original internal peg board and rail
- fabulous bracket foot base and shoe well ( behind fake drawer fronts)

The condition of this piece is exceptional, the timber of superb quality and density.
The paint, which is extra special, is original, a subtle Gustavian sage green with lighter sage picked out in panels, cornice and base. A chalky flat matt finish with moderate distressing.
A minor amount of scattered old wood worm holes found in the base, see photos 5 and 7.
The wardrobe dismantles for transport and access and is ready to use.
A new brass rail has been fitted inside and this wardrobe has an internal depth of 20"!

One of the best wardrobes we have had lately, harder and harder to find in this condition.

ANTIQUE RARE MULBERRY FARMHOUSE KITCHEN TABLE 1840
Certainly the most unusual table regarding timber we have had ...
This rural farmhouse table is made from Mulberry timber, genus Morus, commonly used in the production of silk.
It resembles the grain and density of Elm, but is generally darker in colour, a very pleasing warm dark brown.
This particular table was probably used in a rural kitchen for food preparation, there are many signs of wear all round.
Very tactile and with a wonderful grain, the base with amazingly time worn stretchers, the drawer well used to hold cutlery etc.
The loose top, sitting in the base with dove tailed sledge supports, is left un-waxed, ie scrub topped, for many more years of usage ahead.
The table has had some repairs to the stretchers and new pads added, they were too worn to be kept.
Other than that a really special find, a one-of-a kind country table !!

Dimension:
1075mm wide
900mm deep
810mm high
